6 questions to help you trust your gut
We all know the feeling we get when we want to trust our “gut” but indecisiveness or anxiety get in the way of taking the leap or making the final decision. That’s why we liked this article on six questions you can ask yourself to help you figure out if you should go with your instinct or go in another direction. One question that really resonates with us is, “Do I know enough about the decision to be able to defend it beyond saying ‘Trust me,’ if challenged by others?”
What not to say when someone is grieving (and what to say instead)
Losing a loved one is heartbreaking. It can be difficult to figure out what to say to a friend or family member who is dealing with grief, especially if the loss was especially tragic. We have clients all the time who are dealing with serious injuries and sometimes even the death of a loved one, so we really appreciated this article that outlines what to avoid saying to someone who is grieving, since it also provides alternatives on how to show support without saying the wrong thing. For example, it’s easy to say, “Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you,” but it adds more burden to the person grieving since they now must ask for help. Instead, offer to help with a specific task like, “I will come over on Saturday and do the laundry,” or, “Let me take over the soccer carpool this month.”
Who pays in a semi-truck accident? The at-fault driver or the trucking company?
To determine who is responsible for paying the claim, you must first figure out which insurance coverages are available. Various parties are involved in the truck’s transportation, so you must determine the following at the time the accident occurred:
- The name of the driver
- The company the driver worked for
- The owner of the truck
- The owner of product that the truck was transporting
- Any other holding companies, leasing agents, rental parties involved
Determining the above will shed light on the various insurance companies that may be liable for paying the claim. Of course, all of the insurance companies will initially deny liability and try to point the finger at someone else and claim that a different insurance company should be responsible for footing the bill. But even if a company does not accept liability right away, it does not mean they are not supposed to pay.
Confrontation techniques for people who are terrified of confrontation
If you’re like most people, you would rather deal with a problem than confront the person causing the issue. Not only is that not practical, but it’s not healthy for you, either, especially if the problem is serious. Let go of your anxiety by following these seven steps on how to confront someone; tips include finding a neutral location for the discussion, giving the other person time to process what you are saying, and not being too polite.
