Use podcasts to improve your life and learn about the world – even in your car!
Most of us that have a commute to and from work in which we spend a lot of time alone in the car. It can be tempting to listen to the same music you always do, but why not listen to something that can really enhance your life or teach you something neat? They are free, many of them are less than an hour for each episode, and most are easy listening. I really like the Maximum Lawyer podcast by Jim Hacking and Tyson Mutrux – each episode focuses on ways to improve your legal practice – and the Tribe of Mentors podcast by Tim Ferriss, based on his book that gives short life advice from some of the world’s most successful people. Here is a great link to over 75 podcasts on a variety of subjects, including health, relationships, money, history, marketing, and travel. Just download them on your phone, plug-in or Bluetooth in your car, and you’re good to go!
Don’t sign anything (especially medical forms) after a car accident until you speak with an attorney
Did you know that when you sign a medical authorization from the other driver’s insurance company, it’s like an invite for them to dig through your medical history? The insurance company says that they will pay for your medical bills, but only if you sign their authorization. That means that they will also order medical records from before the accident to try and make it seem like your injuries and pain existed beforehand. If you were in an accident and were given documents to sign by the insurance company, I will personally review them for free in order to protect you from accidentally signing away your rights.
Best bilingual art classes in town for kids
If you are looking for a way to get your kids more interested in art and help them learn Spanish at the same time, you should check out Listo Translation Services & More in Katy. Roxana Heredia and her team have these really cool bilingual art classes tailored specifically to kids ages three to 12 and all materials are included. Our family did one of the adult classes (she offers those, too!) and not only was it a lot of fun, but we also ended up with beautiful pieces to take home, too.

Clever “white elephant” gift ideas – like a book of Dad Jokes!
Funny gift exchanges are a staple around the Holidays, especially the “white elephant” kind where you have to give a funny, generic gift for the cause. Here is a list of clever white elephant gift ideas that you can also double as silly presents for a the party host, goofy stocking stuffers, or even gag gifts for your siblings or friends. My personal favorite from this list is the book 101 So Bad, They’re Good Dad Jokes that I use to embarrass our kids and elicit eyes rolls.
